Whether you use Premier Couplings, Drawbar Eyes, Hinge Assemblies, Jacks or any other Premier product, regular inspection and maintenance are essential for proper function, keeping repair costs to a minimum and above all, safe and efficient operation.
All PREMIER PRODUCTS - General Inspection and Maintenance
Prior to performing any recommended Inspection and Maintenance make certain all surfaces are clean to allow for a thorough examination.
Visually inspect the product thoroughly for cracks, impact damage, deformation and excessive wear before each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist. Visually inspect for any loose and/or missing parts prior to each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist.
Perform applicable lubrication at a minimum of 90-day intervals or sooner depending on the operating environment. If functionality is compromised due to lack of lubrication, DO NOT USE until lubricated and subsequent free operating condition has been restored.
Inspect the rubber or polyurethane bushings on applicable products for excessive wear, damage or cracking. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist.
WARNING: Other inspections and procedures are also required prior to operation of combination vehicles. Consult and follow all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as well as local and/or state guidelines.
COUPLINGS - General Inspection and Maintenance
Prior to performing any recommended Inspection and Maintenance make certain all surfaces are clean to allow for a thorough examination.
Inspect the coupling body and components for cracks, impact damage, deformation and excessive wear before each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist. Inspect for any loose and/or missing parts prior to each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist.
Check cross-sections of coupling pintle/horn for excessive wear. 18% wear indicates that the product should be replaced as soon as possible. At 20% wear, the product is not in useable condition, must be taken out of service immediately and replaced. As part of our effort to assist you, Premier has developed Serviceability Gages that help judge the useful life of coupling pintles/horns (see Accessories, 14000-Serviceability Gages). DO NOT EVER WELD ON ANY COUPLING BODY OR COMPONENT IN AN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR DAMAGE OR WEAR.
Check coupling for gap between the latch and top of the pintle/horn or adjacent pintle surface on coupling body before each and every use. A gap of 3/8" or more means the hitch must be taken out of service and repaired or replaced. Drop-pintle couplings are to be checked where the swivel pintle/horn top surface sits adjacent to the coupling body when in the closed position.
Lubrication of latch components must be performed at 90-day intervals or sooner depending on the operating environment. Lubricate latch components with a spray-type lubricant to evenly coat all pins. Rotate each latch component several times to evenly distribute lubricant. Remove any excess lubricant with rag. DO NOT apply lubricant to pintle/horn or saddle region of coupling body.
Use only genuine Premier Manufacturing replacement parts. Use of other parts, which can have different specifications or tolerances, may fail to alert you to non-obvious damage to the coupling, which can lead to failure.
Prior to towing, make certain that adequately rated safety chains have been properly connected.
WARNING: Other inspections and procedures are also required prior to operation of combination vehicles. Consult and follow all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as well as local and/or state guidelines.
DRAWBAR EYES - General Inspection and Maintenance
Prior to performing any recommended Inspection and Maintenance make certain all surfaces are clean to allow for a thorough examination.
Inspect the drawbar eye and if applicable any of its components for cracks, impact damage, deformation and excessive wear before each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist. Inspect for any loose and/or missing parts prior to each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist.
Check cross-sections of drawbar eye for excessive wear. DO NOT EVER WELD ON ANY DRAWBAR EYE OR COMPONENT IN AN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR DAMAGE OR WEAR.
If applicable, inspect the rubber or polyurethane bushings on swivel drawbar eyes for excessive wear, damage or cracking. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist.
Use only genuine Premier Manufacturing replacement parts. Use of other parts, which can have different specifications or tolerances, may fail to alert you to non-obvious damage to the drawbar eye, which can lead to drawbar eye failure.
Prior to towing, make certain that adequately rated safety chains have been properly connected.
WARNING: Other inspections and procedures are also required prior to operation of combination vehicles. Consult and follow all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as well as local and/or state guidelines.
HINGE ASSEMBLIES - General Inspection and Maintenance
Prior to performing any recommended Inspection and Maintenance make certain all surfaces are clean to allow for a thorough examination.
Inspect the hinge assemblies for cracks, impact damage, deformation and excessive wear before each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist. Inspect for any loose and/or missing parts prior to each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist. Inspect the bushings for free play. If found tighten the bushings or replace them prior to using. Inspect the rubber or polyurethane bushings for excessive wear, damage or cracking. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist.
Prior to towing, make certain that adequately rated safety chains have been properly connected.
WARNING: Other inspections and procedures are also required prior to operation of combination vehicles. Consult and follow all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as well as local and/or state guidelines.
JACKS - General Inspection and Maintenance
Prior to performing any recommended Inspection and Maintenance make certain all surfaces are clean to allow for a thorough examination.
Inspect the jack for cracks, impact damage, deformation and excessive wear before each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist. Inspect for any loose and/or missing parts prior to each and every use. DO NOT USE if any of these conditions exist.
Lubrication of the jack must be performed at 90-day intervals or sooner depending on the operating environment. Lubricate the jack at the provided lubrication point with a medium to heavy weight oil. Rotate the handle after lubricating to distribute the oil along the length of the screw. If the jack is equipped with a caster, lubricate the caster at the provided grease zerk fitting.
Use only genuine Premier Manufacturing replacement parts. Use of other parts, which can have different specifications or tolerances, may fail to alert you to non-obvious damage, which can lead to a failure.
Prior to towing, make certain that adequately rated safety chains have been properly connected.
WARNING: Other inspections and procedures are also required prior to operation of combination vehicles. Consult and follow all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as well as local and/or state guidelines.
